Intelligence, Faith, And Modesty

BismillahirRahmanirRahim

When Adam (alayhi salam) was being sent out from Paradise to the earth, Jibreel (as) came and said to him, “Allah is sending three rewards that you should take with you. But you should take one of them. He is sending three. You should choose one and take one from those three. And go down to the earth with it.” And Allah sent intelligence, faith and modesty, these three things to Adam (as). Adam (as) looked at it and said, `I am choosing intelligence.’ And as soon as he took the intelligence, Jibreel (as) said to the other ones, `Allah is saying to you to go back to where you came from.’ They said,

`No, we cannot go back.’ He said, `Why is that?’ They said, `Because Allah has given us order where the intelligence is that’s where the faith is going to be and that’s where the modesty is going to be.’

The animals don’t have intelligence. They don’t have modesty. Man is not responsible until he reaches to the maturity age, meaning, now he is able to use his intelligence. He is responsible for his actions, he knows what he’s doing and he knows why he’s doing it. Then he’s responsible. And when you look at it through intelligence then Holy Prophet (sws) is saying, “As much intelligence you have that much is your faith.” As much as you are using your intelligence that much your faith is growing. The more your faith is growing, the more modesty you have then.

For the blind man who closes his eyes, not even a thousand Suns can convince him that there is light. But for a wise man, if he sees light, he will not say it is the Sun. If he sees light he’s going to say this is light but the light is coming from something much, much bigger.

Sheykh Ali Hujwiri (Q.S)’s Description Of A Believer’s Hajj

BismillahirRahmanirRahim

O Believers, a vacation Hajj is not the Hajj Mabrur, the accepted Hajj that the Holy Prophet (asws) is talking about. What is the reality of the Hajj? What should true believer experience in the Hajj?

No need to think so much. We have the examples of the Prophet, the Sahabi e-Kiram, and the thousands and tens of thousands of the Saliheen and the Awliya Allah, to describe for us. One of the great Awliya Allah, Sheykh Ali-Hujwiri (qs) is describing the reality of the rituals of the Hajj, saying, ‘wearing ihram, in reality means giving up your bad habits. Staying in Arafat means  being busy with the love of Allah swt. Going to Muszdalifah means giving up from the desires of the ego. Making Tawaf around the Ka’ba means being in awakening station about Allah swt. Coming back from Mina means leaving behind your hawa, your desires. Running between Safa and Marwa means purifying your heart and your soul.  Cutting a kurban means sacrificing all the desires of your nafs.  And throwing pebbles at the sheytan means throwing away your bad companions and your bad habits.’

And he goes on to say, ‘if a murid fails to observe and learn these lessons from his pilgrimage to Ka’aba, his going to the Hajj will make no difference to him. And indeed, it will be an aimless and a vain show.’

So which hajj is being made today? That real Hajj that Hz Hujwiri is describing, or that fake Hajj, that is an aimless and a vain show? If we ask ourselves sincerely, we get the answer.

WE ARE ENTERING TO THE DAYS OF HAJJ

We are entering to the days of Hajj. These are the days of the pilgrimage to the House of Allah. Holy Prophet (asws) is saying about the Hajj in his Hadiths e-Sharif, ‘the ones striving in the course of Allah and the one performing Hajj, and the one performing Umrah, are all the delegations of Allah. He calls them and they respond to His call. They ask Him, and He answers their supplications.’
The Hajj, it is a preparation, it is a rehearsal for dying, leaving this world, and meeting with Allah swt. When a person goes on Hajj, he puts on his Ihram, two white sheets that are representing his funeral shroud. Every action in the Hajj, every step in the Hajj, it has significance. And that is why the person who performs the Hajj properly, he comes back free of sins. Because it is as though he has given up from his life and he has a new life for Allah swt sake.

ONLY BELIEVERS CAN GIVE BELIEF

Only Believers can give beliefs. Only those who have light, can give light. Only those who have peace, they can give peace. Only those who have Islam, they can bring people to show them the way of Islam. Allah is a turner of hearts. He is going to give Islam to them, but we are opening the way. THESE ARE THE DAYS BEFORE QURBAN

These are the days before Kurban, before Eid-ul Adha, Kurban Bayram. These are the days, thousands of years ago that Ibrahim (as) is dreaming and in the dream, Allah swt saying to him, ‘sacrifice your son, Ismail,’ not Ishaq! ‘Ismail (as), the first son. Sacrifice him.’ InsyaAllah, one day we will understand what it means.
So many people, when it comes to sacrifice, they are very quick to say, ‘Yes, my whole life is for you. My whole wealth is for you. My whole this…My whole that……’ but all that is fake. If you say a couple of words to them that they don’t like, immediately they turn against you. If you do a couple of things that they don’t like, they are going to get upset and angry at you. So where is that love? Where is that sacrifice?

Nowhere. It’s only talk.
We should not talk so much. We should listen a little bit more and do it. InsyaAllah. We should be more patient these days. Everything that is coming, we should be more patient. We should swallow our tongue in these days. We should pull ourselves back and watch in these days, and understand. Because these are Holy days as we have just entered into the Holy months of Dzulhijjah.

Why Are People Not Changing After Doing Hajj?

BismillahirRahmanirRahim

image

Allah swt is making it easy for us saying, “Come to Hajj. Perform your Hajj. During that time don’t say anything wrong, don’t do anything wrong, don’t interfere into anything, keep yourself with Me, watch My favours to you and if you finish your Hajj correctly then you will come out from Hajj as you were born from your mother clean. Everything, all the things that you did is taken away.”

But again mankind today found something else. That ayat is there, hadith is there. It’s not changing. Go and look what’s happening there. Big cloud of heedlessness has taken over and people are drowning in it, finishing. You look at it and it’s Dunya there too. People turned everything to Dunya. They are kicking each other, biting each other and cursing to each other like it is normal. Normal like we are walking in the streets of New York or other cities.

“Push each other. It’s okay.” It’s not okay. Allah swt is testing you, He is testing us. We have to watch. You have to watch where you are looking, you have to watch where you are stepping, you have to watch what you are thinking, you have to get rid of the loads you have that you are carrying with you. What are the loads?

Hz. Osman Al-Ghani (RA) - The Third Khalifa Of Islam

BismillahirRahmanirRahim

image

Holy Prophet (asws) is saying in a Hadith e-Sharif, ‘a generous man is near Allah, near Paradise, near man and far from Hell. But a miser is far from Allah, far from Paradise, far from man and near to Hell.’ Indeed an ignorant man who is generous is more precious to Allah than a worshipper who is miser.

The third Khalifah of Islam, Hazreti Osman al-Ghani (ra). he never hesitated to give in the way of Allah.

When the Muslims entered to Medina al-Munawarah, there was a drought and they had almost no water to drink. There was only one well in the whole area and was owned by a jewish person who refused to let the muslim drink. So Holy Prophet asked, ‘who will purchase this well for the Muslims? And Allah will reward him with a fountain in Paradise.’

Hz Osman ran to buy that well. But that jewish man refused to sell it for a fair price. So just for half a share of that well, Hz Osman paid 20 000 dirhams. And he personally gave the muslims to drink from his own hands. When the Masjidil Nabawi needed to be expanded, Hz Osman ran forward and bought additional land for an expansion.

And when the muslims were going to fight the Byzantine empire in the battle of Tarbuk, the Muslims were in great need of supplies. Hz Osman came forward and gave one thousand camels, fifty horses and one thousand pieces of gold. Holy Prophet (asws) looked at the heap of gold and declared, ‘whatever Osman does from this day on, will do him no harm.’

But Hz Osman was not just generous with money. He was generous with his life. Because he gave his life for the sake of Islam. In about two months, we are about to remember the sacrifice of Hz Hussein in Karbala. We should also remember the sacrifice of Hz Osman. Holy Prophet (asws) one day was sitting with Hz Osman and he said, ‘Ya Osman, it may be that Allah swt will cloth you with a Jubbah and that the hypocrites will try to remove it from you, but do not leave it until you meet me.’ And after Hz Umar (ra) was martyred, Hz Osman was dressed with that jubbah, The Jubbah of Khilafat. He became the third Amirul Mukminin. Hz Osman did an amazing service for Islam. Hz Osman cemented the rule of Islam in North Africa. He spread Islam to Persia, to Afghanistan, to Armenia, to Georgia, to Azerbaijan, to Turkmenistan all the way to India. Under Hz Osman, Islam reached to Daghestan and Anatolia. And it was Hz Osman who formed the first Navy of Islam, and through that, Islam entered to Cyprus.

Your Identity Comes With What You Are Doing

BismillahirRahmanirRahim

Now we are approaching the Kurban. Do good deeds. Run to do good deeds. Don’t look at what others do. Look at what you do. Look at what is for you. Look at what Allah subhana wa ta’ala puts for you everyday. Run to do that. Not to think, `I am this one or I am that one’. Everyday your identity comes with what you are doing, what is in front of you and how you are treating what Allah subhana wa ta’ala has prepared for you. What he has prepared for you, if you treat it properly then you will be the winner. If you are not treating it properly then you are going to be the loser.

Connecting With Qurban In The Hajj Season

BismillahirRahmanirRahim

We are going to enter into that season of Hajj and we are going to see the Kurban. Important too, to see. In the old days, they choose the animals months before. They are going to go, they are going to teach their children too, ‘You see that animal, we are going to cut it.’

‘Really daddy, we are going to cut it?’

‘Yes.’

You, your children must have a connection to that animal and to know that animal is going through a sacrifice for you just so that you can eat. So that now, from young age, your relationship to food too is going to be completely different. You are never going to waste. You are going to respect because the food comes from life that is given up for you. The food does not come from supermarket. The food does not come from boxes or from can. It comes from animal, from life, from an intelligent being. So once you start building a relationship with that animal, when the Kurban time comes, you feel that it is a lost. You feel that it is a sacrifice.

This is a forgotten sunnat. People can give salawat billion times a day, but if you are not going through the sunnat, the salawats is not going to give too much when this is concern. Because now, we have nothing to base on. It’s just a feeling. Salawat is just a feeling. It is good, you can do that. But walking in the footsteps of the Prophet (asws), not only you are praising him, but you are experiencing what he went through. That time it will be very effective. You will understand.
